A Timely Collaboration

Norman Dello Joio and Debra Torok
Beginning in 1997, a dialogue began between Norman Dello Joio and pianist, Debra Torok. They worked together to correct scores and speak about interpretation. This resulted in historical recordings of the composer's complete piano works by Debra Torok. Since the complete works have not been recorded, this is an exclusive collection. The two volumes of solo piano works include the most recently composed Songs Without Words. The third volume, Family Album, has just been released. It contains solo works and works for two pianos and four hands with pianist Marylène Dosse. It includes the complete pedagogical works, Dello Joio's delightful children's pieces. Volume 3 also includes a newly composed work (published in 2001) for solo piano. All of these recordings are available everywhere on Albany Records.
